FAQs

Why is it more for a group larger than 12?

In addition to more resources being used and transported, research suggests that a group no larger than 12 individuals is the most optimal participant size for therapeutic activities such as music therapy. Any larger, and it becomes difficult to ensure the proper amount of focus on unique therapeutic goals outside of enrichment for the collective group.

Isn't this just a music performance/ music entertainment?

One of the main defining characteristics between music therapy and music performance is that music therapy involves more group and individual engagement to help meet therapeutic goals. Sometimes a music therapist may use receptive or passive interventions, but that isn't always the case and is contingent upon what is being worked on and the client population.

Where do you run groups?

In person groups can happen in the following counties: San Francisco, San Mateo, Contra Costa, and Alameda. 

Virtual sessions can happen from anywhere in California.
